School has been canceled today for my kids. They’re quite happy about it, but they’re blissfully ignorant about why school is cancelled.

Someone has been sending threats to their school. Yesterday they had a lock-in because of one. By the end of the school day it seemed that everything was ok and the threat was gone. But at 8 last night all of the school parents received an alert that there has been another threat.

As a parent, I’m scared. I believe that the police will keep the kids out of school until it’s safe again, but the thought of my kids being in a school while there is someone there ready to harm innocent kids is too much to wrap my head and emotions around.

I remember the Sandy Hook elementary shooting that happened 6 years ago. First graders died, and my oldest was in first grade at the time.

I’m rambling. Sorry. I’m just not sure how to really express the fear in my heart. My kids are my everything. I feel absolutely helpless, but the one thing I can do is pray, so I am.
