I was stuck on an all-too-long weightless plateau. But then I discovered the Ketogenic Diet. Within 3 months I’ve lost 12 pounds, all due to my eating changes, and I thought I only had 5 pounds to lose in the first place. This diet lifestyle is amazing….unless you’re craving a Lemon Drop martini or a Margarita.
May I introduce…Keto Simple Syrup. For my first few months of keto it never occurred to me that I could actually make cocktails. I was so worried about what I couldn’t have that I didn’t think about creating recipes that would satisfy me without derailing my goals.

This recipe is simple. I’m upset I didn’t think of this sooner. Over the years I’ve been a Food Network super fan, and one of the most important lessons I learned was how to make simple syrup. One part sugar, one part water, so many possibilities.
The star of this recipe is a keto friendly sugar substitute called Swerve. I prefer the granulated version. I’m sure that other sugar substitutes like Monk Fruit would work, however I’ve never tried them so I can’t recommend it one way or the other. Swerve is very keto friendly because it won’t raise your blood sugar, so it’s carb free. Enjoy!

Ketogenic Friendly Simple Syrup
Ingredients:
- 1 part Swerve granulated sugar substitute
- 1 part water
(So an example is 1/2 cup Swerve, 1/2 cup water, or 1 cup Swerve, one cup water.)
Directions:
- boil Swerve in water until dissolved.
- Let cool before using with a cocktail.
