Getting Crayon out of Clothing

The crayon-in-a-pocket strikes again! This time it was a black crayon that took a ride in the laundry, spotting and dotting itself all over my boys’ school clothing.


This isn’t the first time a crayon has ruined a bunch of clothing, but this was the first time that I got mad enough to search for a solution and try to save these clothes.


I read online somewhere to use WD40. In case you’re new to using this stuff like I was, it’s found in the automotive area of the store, not with the cleaning supplies. So I gave it a go.


I  took the clothing outside, and I sprayed a good amount of WD40 on each spot or cluster of spots.


I let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then I took the clothes to the washing machine, adding a 1/2 cup of Borax Detergent Booster with the laundry detergent.

Washed & Dried. Here’s how my experiment turned out:
