Treadmills. They don’t have to be boring. If you train by running different in intervals or doing the following workout, your mind stays engaged enough not to be bored but not so engaged that you can’t meditate over life and mentally recharge.
I did this workout today after a short warmup. Well, actually it was a running attempt, but my knee has been bothering me so I decided walking would be better; but I still wanted a great calorie-torching workout and to get my heart rate to that sweet spot for fat burning.
Here’s how you do it:
20 Minute Treadmill Fat Burner
- Starting at 0 incline, begin walking on your treadmill at a semi-quick pace
- At 30 seconds in, raise the incline by .5
- At 1 minute in, raise the incline by another .5 to make it “1”
- At 1 minute 30 seconds, raise incline again another.5 to “1.5”
- Continue this routine all the way up to “10”. At “10” you should be at 10 minutes.
- Now from “10”, begin a decline by .5 every 30 seconds.
- By 20 minutes, the treadmill incline should be at “0”
*Tip*
You’ll torch the most fat if you track your heart rate and keep it in the fat-burning zone. To find your zone, start by finding your max heart rate (220-your age=max heart rate). Your fat-burning zone heart rate is 60-70% of your max heart rate.
