Day 3: My Whole 30 Journal

Last night I almost quit this Whole 30 challenge. Cravings were hitting hard! Have you ever seen a box of Wheat Thins or a marshmallow and thought “I need that now!”? I hadn’t until last night. Luckily my hubby wouldn’t let me cheat. I managed to get through it with a Larabar and Banana; which was a lot of calories to consume at 9:00 at night, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

This morning I woke up feeling much less bloated than I have for months. That little success made me glad I didn’t give up.

We are camping at Seeley Lake here in Montana and really didn’t come very prepared for breakfast, so we decided to drive 40 miles to Missoula for the Farmer’s Market and breakfast. On our way out we stopped at a gas station. The only thing I could find that was Whole 30 approved was a pack of Blue Diamond Whole Natural almonds, so I bought two packs to have a spare for later. Of course I also found some black drip coffee.

After the almonds and coffee I knew I had fed my body but wasn’t one bit satisfied. At the Missoula Farmer’s Market we found some melons, green beans, and huckleberries. Although breakfast at The Shack was only a few blocks away, I ate huckleberries in the truck like my life depended on it. The sweetness was outrageously satisfying, but I was still feeling hungry.

At the Shack, I browsed the omelette menu and secretly mourned not having cheese. My dear hubby reminded me that potatoes are allowed. Yes!

I ordered a ground beef patty, two eggs, and hash browns, coffee, and fresh squeezed orange juice. It was amazing and I felt completely satisfied.

We arrived back to camp, grabbed our mountain bikes, and headed up to Morrell Falls. It’s a pretty good little mountain bike ride, so water-chugging was a must.

Now I’m back at camp, just ate a half a cantaloupe and a cherry Larabar, and now I’m onto my second glass of wine. Hey, it’s Labor Day Weekend! It’s better than 20 beers for sure! Cheers darling.
