Today is Day 1 of my Whole 30 challenge. Today is also the first day of the rest of my life. I love that. When I’m able to reflect on life and what’s ahead instead of what’s behind, I am an overall more driven and excited individual.
Did you know that today is also the first day of the rest of your life? What do you plan on doing?

For me, feeling great in my own skin (and clothing) is up near the top of my list of goals. In the past I’ve found that when I feel confident and happy in my own skin, everything else is just a little bit easier. I suppose I have more pep in my step.
Over the last year I haven’t felt confident. With an out-of-control, under active thyroid, I gain 20 pounds in a matter of months.
To add fuel to the fire, my depression came back with a vengeance. I didn’t want to diet. I wanted pizza. (Okay, let’s be honest here; I always want pizza!) Doritos and donuts and margaritas, oh my! Yes, things definitely got out of control.
So now that I’ve had the professionals fix my thyroid and kick my depression to the curb, I’m ready to be my happy, confident self again. Whole 30 time.
Today is day 1 of my Whole 30 challenge and I plan on doing my best…even though Labor Day is fast approaching. I. Can. Do. This.
The day started off with me drinking black coffee (of course!). I felt frazzled trying to think of a breakfast that wasn’t toast or oatmeal or cereal. I couldn’t think of anything. There just hadn’t been enough caffeine consumption yet.
After dropping my boys off at school I went to the gym. I was feeling pretty inspired, you know, because today is the first day of the rest of my life and all, do I ran on the treadmill for 3 1/2 miles with walking intervals. That made me hungry!
Came home and ate an apple. It was a Golden Delicious and it truly was delicious! Nature makes some sweetness! I also drank a Hula Pom juice, which should be pure juice if the labeling is accurate. I’m not sure how much juice I should be drinking during this challenge, but I couldn’t resist. It tastes like Hawaiian Punch but way better and better for you!

So now I’m gonna eat a banana, try to think of some non-fruit things to eat, and clean my house before picking my kiddos up from school.
